Lily Pond is situated close to the Roanoke River. The Roanoke is known as being the rockfish capitol of the world. As some of you know the Rockfish is another name for striped bass, and there is nothing like a Roanoke River striped bass trip. Every Spring they come up the river to spawn, and we are situated right in the middle of it. Talk about take a kid fishing. We mostly bottom fish but the fly fishermen do just about as good. It isn't unusual to catch several dozen stripers a day. Not only will you catch the fish, the Roanoke is packed with wildlife. We spot bobcat, deer, turkey, otter, beaver on just about every trip out. There are also bald eagles that nest along the river and its not unusual to see several flying above looking for a meal of fresh fish. The Roanoke is a beautiful river with lots of scenery and the fishing is great, so if you love to catch fish or just want to get a kid involved in fishing there is no better place to start.
